Piercing, evocative, well-wrought and very tight piece of free verse here Christi. I’m glad you’ll no longer be calling yourself ‘free verse challenged’ :))

lots of great stuff here, like cloaked in steam, and parallel tears and…welllll…should i just copy and paste the whole thing?

Sonorous echoes provide a smoother than smooth progression.. sharp craft belies the pain that lies behind your words. Beatifully expressed, Christi.

    Peace and love.. x

Poignant. Few words can say so much!

  7. Victoria says:

Cloaked in steam…maybe, but the whole effect of this is chilling, beginning with the image. Wow!

Christi, as I read this again the fear of some impending event seems to come through clearly for me. The knowing it must be (and that it will bring enormous change) but not quite being at peace with it. You’ve evoked so much with your brevity here! Bravo.

amazing, Christi – says so much in so few words. The last goodbye, the sorrow and grief of loss, the thoughts of moving forward all come through in this one.
